The Circuit That Contains Everything
The Baku City Circuit offers two completely different racing experiences within a single lap. The 2.2 km seafront straight, running alongside the Bulvar coastal boulevard on the banks of the Caspian Sea, allows cars to reach 366 km/h, making it one of the fastest sections on any street circuit in the world. Seconds later, the track winds through the Icheri Sheher — Baku's UNESCO-listed walled old city — in a sequence of sharp, low-speed corners where the walls are just metres from the barriers. No other circuit in Formula 1® offers this degree of contrast within a single lap.
The Old City and the Flame Towers
Baku is a city of striking diversity: the medieval stone walls of the Icheri Sheher old city district stand within sight of the 21st-century Flame Towers that illuminate the Caspian skyline at night. Azerbaijani cuisine — including plov, dolma, qutab flatbreads, pomegranate-based sauces and the region's famed Caspian caviar tradition — is one of the Caucasus region's most distinctive food cultures. The Bulvar seafront promenade, which runs alongside the main straight, transforms into one of the race weekend's most enjoyable fan areas.
Crystal Hall, the Fan Forum, and the Baku Weekend
All standard grandstand ticket holders at the Baku City Circuit receive a Thursday pit lane walk pass — one of the most accessible pit lane access arrangements on the current Formula 1® calendar. Evening concerts take place at Baku Crystal Hall, the landmark venue on the Bulvar that hosted the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. The official F1® Fan Forum, held in the fan zone on Friday and Saturday mornings, brings drivers onto a live stage for Q&A sessions open to all ticket holders.
Getting to Baku
Heydar Aliyev International Airport is approximately 30 km from the city centre by road, with direct flights from Istanbul, Dubai, London, and several other European hubs. The circuit runs along the Baku Bulvar, the seafront promenade that is within walking distance of most city centre hotels.
