A circuit designed for racing

A Circuit Designed for Racing

The Shanghai International Circuit was built with overtaking in mind. Its layout moves through sweeping high-speed curves, a long back straight that lets cars build to their fastest before a late, heavy braking zone, and a technical opening sequence that sorts the field early. It is one of the circuits on the calendar that rewards both qualifying pace and race-day strategy, which is why it tends to produce races that are decided late.

Shanghai beyond the circuit

Shanghai Beyond the Circuit

Shanghai is one of the world's most dynamic cities, with a food culture built around Shanghainese cuisine — xiaolongbao dumplings, hong shao rou braised pork — and a restaurant scene that spans everything from classic lane-houses to rooftop bars overlooking the Bund. The city's historic waterfront, the contrast between the colonial architecture of Puxi and the glass towers of Pudong, and neighbourhoods like Xintiandi and Tianzifang give the race weekend a cultural dimension available at few other rounds.

A growing force in Formula 1®

A Growing Force in Formula 1®

The FORMULA 1 CHINESE GRAND PRIX came back in 2024 after five years away, and the reception was immediate. Sold out, loud, and unmistakably alive. Shanghai's crowd brings a different energy to race weekend: passionate, knowledgeable, and growing fast. The scale of the venue amplifies it: when 200,000 fans fill the grandstands across a weekend, the atmosphere is something you feel as much as hear.

Shanghai Metro to the circuit gate

Shanghai Metro to the Circuit Gate

Shanghai Metro Line 11 runs directly to Shanghai International Circuit station — the most straightforward way to reach the venue from the city centre. Important: all tickets for the FORMULA 1 CHINESE GRAND PRIX require full passport registration several weeks in advance — ensure this is completed at the time of booking.
