The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve is an undulating circuit with elevation changes unlike any other track on the Formula 1® calendar. Almost every corner arrives without a clear sightline, which means drivers are committing to lines they cannot fully see, carrying speed into sections that punish hesitation. When Formula 1® first visited in 2020, the reaction from drivers was immediate and unanimous: this was something different. Portimão returns to the calendar in 2027 for the first time since 2021.

The Algarve Beyond the Circuit

The Autódromo sits in the hills above Portimão, a historic fishing and resort town on Portugal's southern coast.
